Experimental investigation of kinematic pile bending in layered soils using dynamic centrifuge modelling

چکیده
This research provides an insight into the previously unexplored aspects of kinematic pile bending, especially for large-intensity earthquakes where soil behaviour is highly non-linear. In this study, a series dynamic centrifuge experiments was conducted on foundations embedded in two-layered profile to investigate effects during model earthquakes. A single and closely spaced 3 × 1 row group were used as foundations, consisted soft clay underlain by dense sand. It observed that peak bending moment occurs slightly beneath interface layers depth larger compared pile. Also, piles attract lower moments but carry residual Furthermore, elastic solutions available literature estimating are shown yield satisfactory results only small-intensity earthquakes, vastly underestimate if methods applied injudiciously. The importance considering non-linearity accurate determination shear strain at layered soils reliable assessment from demonstrated using test data.

The Effect of a Transient Dynamic Loaded Pile on a Neihbouring Pile for Nonhomogeneous Soils
ABSTRACT This study presents an investigation of the interaction effect of one loaded pile on a neighboring pile under transient dynamic loadings. Analyses are carried for non homogeneous soils. The hybrid boundary element formulation is used to represent boundary integral representation of soil domain and pile equations represented by linear structural components. The formulation is presented ...
متن کاملNumerical Modelling of Dynamic Compaction in Dry Sandy Soils for Determination of Effective Print Spacing
Dynamic compaction (DC) is a widely used soil improvement method in dry and/or saturated soils. The design of DC treatment is usually carried out based on the past experiences and empirical relations. In order to clarify the ambiguities in DC processes, numerical modeling of DC in dry granular soils has been considered using a dynamic finite element code. Using the developed model, two design c...
متن کاملThree-dimensional Finite Element Modelling of Dynamic Pile–soil–pile Interaction in Time Domain
Dynamic analysis of embedded foundations like pile groups have received considerable attention in the past. Most existing approaches are established in the frequency domain, not allowing the simulation of material and geometric nonlinearities. In this paper, transient analyses are conducted to calculate the impedance of piles and pile groups, using a full three-dimensional numerical model for b...
